Macaulay CSI Instagram
As a second year student in the Macaulay Honors Program at CUNY, I began in August 2024 with many hopes and aspirations in mind towards pursuing my career. I started exploring the resources and opportunities offered to me, both at Macaulay and the College of Staten Island (CSI). After speaking to my Macaulay advisor at CSI and expressing my interest, I was provided with the opportunity to be the school’s Social Media Intern beginning in September 2024. Since then, I have increased engagement, started my original series: “Macaulay Mic’d Up,” created fliers and posts using photos I took, and more original content for the page as well. See some of my posts below!
Macaulay Mic’d Up
Macaulay Mic’d Up" is my ongoing Instagram series where I interview Macaulay CSI students and staff, giving them a platform to share stories, experiences, and goals. From freshmen learning the ropes to upperclassmen reflecting on their journey, every episode is designed to highlight authentic voices from our community.
As the host of this segment, I manage everything from concept and interview flow to production and editing. The series is not just about showcasing people, it’s about building connection through storytelling and amplifying the voices that make our campus community unique.
Through "Macaulay Mic’d Up," I’ve honed skills in on-camera interviewing, content planning, social media engagement, and editing. It’s also taught me to balance authenticity with strategy — crafting content that feels genuine while still performing well (Grew social media engagement by 264% month-over-month, reaching 63K+ views and 5K+ accounts) on platforms like Instagram!
Promotional Videos
In addition to social media content, I’ve also created promotional videos for Macaulay CSI events, including the New Student Mixer, Olympics, and other community activities. These projects allowed me to combine creativity with strategy, capturing the excitement of campus life while encouraging students to get involved.
For each event, I focused on showcasing authentic moments: students connecting at the mixer, the energy and teamwork of the Olympics, and the pride of being part of the Macaulay community. The goal was not just to document the events, but to highlight school spirit and make students feel inspired to participate.
These videos were featured on the official @macaulaycsi Instagram account, helping to increase engagement and visibility for campus programs. Working on these projects strengthened my skills in event coverage, video editing, and social media storytelling, while teaching me how to balance promotional goals with authenticity, making content both exciting to watch and effective in driving participation.
